I went to Rock City for THE POGUES tonight. The musical background was wonderful, but the singing was not great. Rock City was not a fun place to be, because I was strictly in a listening mood, not a dancing or being "pogued on" mode.
We went to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago at 11:00 and spent a few hours with the fish. Then we walked to Geno's East Sports Bar downtown for some amazing deep dish pizza and beer, where Kat met up with us.
We struggled to get to a high-rise apartment on the far side of Millennium Park, and ended up walking nearly around the gated community before finding a way in and up to the 31st floor of a friend of Laurel. Then we went to Millennium Park to sing carols with a gospel choir at "the bean". We met up with Tim and Kristin, our friends from Chicago that we met in Mineral Point in the fall. We went to KristKindle Market for some German Christmas gifts, but the lines were so long we just admired everything and the beautiful tree. We got a ride to our ML320 with Tim, and then followed them to the Zoo, which was decorated for Xmas and was open for about 30 minutes more. We drove to Clarks Street Bar and Grill for late night dinner and Karaoke with a live band. Rachel got a standing ovation from the band, and we headed off for another bar, the Hidden Cove, up on 55th and Lincoln. We had a drink and headed home after hearing the most diverse selection of Karaoke singing.
